Vulvar and Vaginal Cancer

Vulvar and vaginal cancers are relatively uncommon gynecologic malignancies accounting for approximately 1-5% of all gynecologic tumors.

Risk factors

  • Age
  • Obesity
  • HPV infection
  • Tobacco use

Signs and symptoms

  • Bleeding
  • Palpable mass
  • Vulvar and vaginal pain and itching
  • Though, as many as 50% are asymptomatic at the time of detection.

Diagnosis

  • Pelvic examination
  • Colposcopy of vulva, vagina
  • Biopsy of any suspicious lesions

Treatment

  • Surgery
  • Radiation
  • Chemotherapy
